Nation Building, Comanche Style
By David Yeagley 2-28-2002
Comanches didn’t become “Lords of the South Plains” through tolerance, equality, or multiculturalism. Their achievement was based on an acute sense of racial superiority, incredible horsemanship, superior warrior skills, and outrageous aggression. John M. Myers says Comanches were “the greatest tribe of all.” (The Alamo, 1948).
Well, were they just the “baddest?” Were Comanches the most wicked people who ever lived?
Many Americans today might wonder how I, as a Comanche, can consider myself an American patriot. Comanche history sounds like the opposite of modern American values. Yet, America today can learn important lessons from Comanche history.
Comanches were certainly one of the smallest tribes, never numbering more than five or six thousand warriors. We were just small bands of roaming hunters, with no religion or political structure.
Yet, in very short time, (between 1706 and 1750) Comanches created a private hunting empire that covered the western half of Oklahoma, all of central and western Texas, eastern New Mexico, and southwest Kansas, with part of Southeastern Colorado.
We drove off all other Indians, and ended all further Spanish, French, and English settlement until 1836.
Then the European Invaders began to surround us, out-gun us, and outnumber us a thousand to one. Their diseases practically eliminated us, then they slaughtered our food supply, the buffalo. The last Comanches surrendered in 1875.
But our loss of power wasn’t the result of surrendering our cultural identity. It was simply a case of the Stone Age man meeting Industrial Age masses.
Comanches came to power through the intuition of exclusiveness. Comanches simply evicted or eliminated all people different from ourselves. Our bands never fought among themselves.
And we never ruled anyone else―only ourselves. We had no desire to rule over others.
Captives among us were tortured, killed, or traded. Rarely did they end up otherwise. If a captive showed great courage and valor, he might become honored among Comanches, and even cherished.
But Comanche “citizenship” was dearly earned. “Foreign” ways were never “tolerated” in the name of equality.
But now look at modern America.
Leftist leaders idolize equality, diversity, and tolerance to the point of obliterating any concept of fundamental, historically American values.
But obviously, America did not become the mightiest nation on earth without distinct values and discrimination. The government was created by White, Anglo-Saxon (English) Protestants, with guns in their hands.
There were social standards in America’s formative days. One didn’t come here to be a Buddhist, to pray like a Muslim, or to dance Haitian voodoo rites. “Multiculturalism” simply wasn’t a working concept of the founders. One came here to be a capitalist western European protestant Christian.
That equality should come to mean Satanism, sexual perversion, idolatry, spiritualism, and other rank heathenisms, is the great failure of modern American legislators. Our leaders have succumbed to the long-entrenched Leftist perversion of American values.
Today American citizenship is practically a “gim-me.” It’s even free if you’re born here. A foreigner just sets foot on American soil, and he at least has the right to a fair and tax-funded trial. Has a baby, and he’s a cultural hero.
The Leftist ideology has so utterly devalued being American that a real patriot seems like an ignorant bigot, or worse, a traitor. Maybe even a wild Comanche.
But nations are never built on multiculturalism. Rights and privileges are ideological goodies handed out to foreigners after the nation is established. They’re not to be used to deconstruct the nation, or reduce it to superfluous idiosyncrasies like baseball, hotdogs, and apple pie
California leaders deconstruct America. Enormous Hispanic lobbies want the Spanish language equal to English in education, media, and citizenship. The Mexican Cultural Institute of Los Angeles (more than 50% funded by the Mexican government) wants Spanish kept as the primary language of Hispanics. It’s part of the Reconquista movement to reclaim the American Southwest as Mexico.
Imagine how older American Indians feel today, who as children were severely beaten and tortured by white boarding school teachers if they spoke one word of their native Indian language! My own elderly Comanche mother is from that generation.
But liberals want Hispanics sworn in as U.S. citizens not knowing a word of English. Mexicans should even say the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish because that’s more meaningful to them.
Can American society exist as a social buffet of anti-American foreign cultures? That’s not the republic for which our flag stands. Our survival depends on discrimination.
If I had a band of Comaches, I’d make a raid on California yesterday!
