Warriors, Killers, and Death Lovers

By David Yeagley

Islamic homicide bombers are not warriors. They’re cold-blooded murderers.  Their success is based on a disciplined, satanic suicide, not courage.  There’s nothing honorable about it.

If Islam went into real war, the bombers know Islam would lose. Their own people aren’t capable of a military invasion of the West, neither are the people so inclined. The cowardly killer bombers are therefore mere heroic flukes in some perverted Islamic religious imagination.

Only the bombers’ death wish and lust for destruction distinguish them from the destitute masses in their own countries. Overpopulation, oppression, and poverty don’t produce social revolutions in Islamic countries like they did in Russia, China, and South Africa. They produce suicide/homicide bombers. Whether they are Arabian, Palestinian, or Lebanese, such international murderers come from the most enslaved and hopelessly inept cultures in history.

The murderers are gripped in the natural vice of their own death-wishes. They’re obsessed with hate, and they act out their hate against America, and freedom.  Sigmund Freud (d.1939) said death–wishes, in dreams, are “derived from the unbounded egoism of the dreamer.” (A General Introduction to Psychoanalysis, 1920.) The dream itself has no conscience. Objects of hatred are treated in dreams in horrific ways, but the hate is normally never articulated or acted out by the actual person.

But Islamic terrorists are acting out their libidinal fantasies, and creating a nightmare for the rest of the world. And it’s socially honorable in oppressed Islamic countries. The suicide killers don’t see their own self-hatred. Instead, they delude themselves with eternal significance and personal glory as they destroy themselves and others.

It’s true, for underdeveloped countries and primitive societies death is the quick fix for hopelessness. Death with honor is the irresistible temptation of abject frustration. Of course, in the crazed Islamic version, the honor of self-murderer comes through murdering others with yourself.

Yet there are some primitive cultures that honor individual murder as individual justice.  These customs aren’t restricted to Islamic society.

One such reclusive culture is depicted in Ismail Kadare’s novelette, Broken April (1982).  It features the northern mountain people of Albania, on the Rrafsh (high plateau). Their Kanun (code of law) requires ‘an eye for an eye’ justice that results in perpetual killing. Someone who kills someone else must himself be killed, even if he’s the one appointed by the Kanun to kill for justice. It’s endless.

But it’s a ‘lay-in-wait’ kind of killing, and personal.  In modern culture it’s murder.  Kadare depicts the sick glamour and significance of one involved in such a death cycle.

It’s called blood feud.  It continues through generations. It’s codified killing, all in the name of justice.

It was a common sentiment among American Indians.  Cadwallader Colden noticed it in the early 18th century.  He observed how “extremely revengeful the Indians naturally are…They every day undertake the greatest fatigues, the longest journeys, and the greatest dangers, to gratify that devouring passion, which seems to gnaw at their souls, and gives them no ease till it is satisfied. (The History of The Five Indian Nations, 1727).

It was featured among central African tribes in the movie Congo (Paramount, 1994). Ancient tribal feuds were clothed in political language and military uniforms.  The guide Monroe (Ernie Hudson) advises his companions, “These people live for the opportunity of settling scores. And they have a lot of scores to settle.”

It happens today, between Israelis and Palestinians. Even though Palestinian identity was created by outside political agitators, the inside people’s drone is “justice,” and every Palestinian can wear that word to disguise hate, envy, or greed. One size fits all.

But Israel doesn’t have suicidal homicide bombers. Israel doesn’t produce such frustrated creatures. Israel’s leaders take better care of their people. They don’t leave the people hopeless, helpless, and miserable, like the Islamic leaders do.

There were never suicidal killers among Comanche warriors. A warrior never feared death, but he didn’t idolize it. Even among the Lobos (wolves), an elite warrior group of the early 19th century, death wasn’t a goal. These warriors simply didn’t retreat in battle, but would die fighting. If any wolf survived a battle in which many of his fellow wolves were slain, he himself might become the target of their avenging relatives.  He must have betrayed his oath if he survived.  Not exactly a blood feud…

But modern Islamic suicidal murderers are nothing more than a combination of ancient blood feud and modern technology. In fact, they are much less. Their individual pathology is merely magnified by technology.
