MA: "The teachers’ union in Bridgewater and Raynham is planning to file a labor grievance that could block volunteers from keeping the school district’s libraries open. And as word of the work action spreads, it is stirring up outrage in the two towns.

"Librarian positions were cut from the middle schools in both towns this year and their salaries channeled into hiring teachers to address bulging class sizes. Volunteer organizations stepped in to pick up the slack — only to be surprised and disappointed by threats of a labor complaint."
How ironic that liberals, who constantly challenge everyone but themselves to "do your part" by volunteering, would block volunteers in school libraries. Hmmm . . . maybe "volunteering" isn't part of the actual liberal agenda.
In this example, the teachers union would rather see all school libraries close than allow volunteers--who really ARE concerned about their communities--to help. This from the group who claims to represent teachers and promote education. Yeah, right.
Unions bring the same total destruction to school systems that they use to decimate businesses.
Some people would rather be ruler in hell than subject in heaven. They would rather rule over a broken and useless system than cooperate with others to make something work.
(I realize this topic is a stretch for the Am Lit forum... but there's no "education" forum, so next best thing
