If you listen to the interview, you have to wonder if she ever WAS one. I'm pretty sure writing novels about vampires is not Christ-centered.
But it does give her an opportunity to publicly bash Christians, which is apparently what she was aiming for. Most people who decide not to follow Christ simply do so over time, moving further from Him a little each day.
