English is not considered an easy language to learn--by those not born speaking it. But consider the spelling challenges. Homonyms, phononyms, and the other "nyms."
1) The bandage was wound around the wound.
2) The farm was used to produce produce .
3) The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse.
4) We must polish the Polish furniture.
5) He could lead if he would get the lead out.
6) The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.
7) Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present.
8) A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum.
9) When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes.
10) I did not object to the object.
11) The insurance was invalid for the invalid.
12) There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row
13) They were too close to the door to close it.
14) The buck does funny things when the does are present.
15) A seamstress and a sewer fell down into a sewer line.
16) To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow to sow.
17) The wind was too st ron g to wind the sail.
18) Upon seeing the tear in the painting I shed a tear.
19) I had to subject the subject to a series of tests.
20) How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend?
Words spelled alike, pronounced alike, different meanings. Words spelled differently, pronounced the same.
Only in English, I think.

Indeed. Betty can speak wolf-ese, eagle-ese, and even owl-ese. She can read the unconscious, and interpret dreams. I am surprised that people don't have a more serious regard for her. Well all tend to cut up on the net. It's fun. But, underneath all that, we are real people.
Betty is one of the most fascinating people I've ever known. I'm proud that she is Indian. I'm proud that she is Sioux. I guess I just know her better than others. If everyone saw what I have seen, she would be precious in everyone's eyes.

I don't defend her. She can defend herself. I'm just saying I think she's rather great.
Was soll ich nun machen? Ich nur die Wahrheit spreche...die Wahrheit das in mein Herz ist. Moeglich es ist Wahrheit nur in mein Herz.
(IKONBOARD won't take the umlaut.)
An African told me one time (at Yale), "Any woman is a good woman. It all depends on how you treat her." This he proffered, at a low time in my experience with an Italian woman (or two). I have faith that this words are true, though at the time, I could not see it as so.
Yes. I failed. Then, and now. But not in the spirit world.

Jesus Dave, I am sorry to hear that.

-------------- "I was born a Lakota and I shall die a Lakota. Before the white man came to our country, the Lakotas were a free people. They made their own laws and governed themselves as it seemed good to them. The priests and ministers tell us that we lived wickedly when we lived before the white man came among us. Whose fault was this? We lived right as we were taught it..,Chief Red Cloud.
