When Blacks Ain’t Black: An Irish Air.

by David Yeagley · March 14, 2012 · 11 Comments ·

So the Irish want to be black now! At least, they want the name. They are “offended” at its use by Nike. It seems the new Nikes “Black&Tan” model has offended the pubsters across the board, or, the bar.

Nikes new “Black&Tan” model sneaker. Offensive,
not to Negroes, but to the Irish!

Melissa Knowles (Negress reporting for YahooNews) tells us:

The Nike SB Black and Tan Quickstrike is named after a black and tan colored alcoholic beverage made by mixing stout and lager–usually Guinness and Harp or Bass–in a pint glass. Even though Guinness and Harp are Irish, it is not a drink that is commonly requested in bars in Ireland. In the 1920s, a British paramilitary group, known as the “Black & Tans,” used brutality to suppress an armed Irish Revolution, and it was known for its ruthless attacks against Irish civilians.

Thus, the rub in the pub. (But what’s a nice Negress girl, without Harry Reid’s “Negro dialect” be dissin’ the bro’s footwear? This is an irony, an anomaly, and what, a racial triumph?)

And we thought Nike was trying to honor Negro Duke Ellington’s “Black and Tan Fantasy.” Now, is black black, or not? So Nike apologizes already to the Irish, but, what about Duke Ellington? What about the American Negro legend and lore. Ain’t black black no mo? No black fantasy?

One of the earliest recordings, ca. 1927-29.

Edward Kennedy “Duke” Ellington, 1899-1974.

How dare these unruly Irishmen insult the great Negro icon of American pop!

But, let a white, blonde female come to the rescue–of the “black,” not the white. Yes, another liberal white woman savior. Charlize Theron has just adopted a “South African” child. Now, South Africa used to be a white nation, racially. The world deemed it an appropriate sacrifice to offer the savage black rage of Africa (i.e., the United Nations), and let the black Africans migrants and black labor take over the country.

White woman savior, Charlize Theron.

The Theron announcement, of course, ever-so-carefully avoids the detail of the ethnic or racial identity of the baby “Jackson.” Can there be any doubt?

Theron and child, December 4, 2010.
Could this be the child?

Theron’s “outreach” to Africa, on display, only it’s TOM’s shoes, not Nike. Must have been a communication glitch, or a PR gaff. And it’s TOM’s One for One Movement, not the TOM’s site. Oh, well.

I can’t understand why these white women saviors (and the are noble at heart, are they not?) can’t adopt white children. Why the craving for the darkies? Why the compulsion to touch the night? I’ve theorized, but, it is only psychological suggestion. I don’t know the answer.

One factor, though, is government intrusion into private affairs. In recent years, the U.S. government makes it well nigh impossible for white couples to adopt white children. Many local adoption agencies strongly encourage white couples seeking to adopt to import children from Africa or Asia or South America — anything but white children. Certainly people are not free to choose a child of their own preference!

“Should adoption agencies discriminate by race, or even by a person’s racial sensitivity? According to current U.S. law, no. Since 1996, it has been illegal to consider race. . . ”

In other words, it is now illegal for a white couple to insist that the adoption agency give them a child of their own race, if such be their stated preference. No free choice in this anymore. No more true freedom of association, such as the U.S. Constitution guarantees to all citizens.

In many cases, if you are white and insist on adopting only a white child, you are simply denied the opportunity to adopt — period.

It has proved difficult — if not impossible — to find an article online revealing the true facts about the implementation of the anti-discrimination law in matters of adoption, as these have been reported to me firsthand.

Here, however, is a related article of interest, showing that diversity is bad for even the personal well-being of the citizens of a community:

    Unbelievable.

    Thank you, Thrasymachus!

    1) i find the faux outrage of conservatives decrying government interference in private lives to be hypocritical. Cases in point. In Arizona there a bill being introduced where if a woman is using the pill for birth control purpouses(as opposaed to regulating extreamly painful menstruel cramps or regulating her cycle so she can become pregnant) she can be fired. Then there are the vaginal probe laws. These state that any woman seeking an abortion, even those that were raped, must submit to a vaginal probe even if it is against their will. (btw to penetrate a woman in such a manner without her consent is the legal definition of rape). Then there is the assault on labor unions for which thankfully even more republicans in Wisconsin are going to lose their jobs. As for the black and tan issue Dr Yeagleys tone seems to suggest that the Irish are drunks who have no right to object to this gaffe by Nike. As one of Irish descent who is aware of his heritage(My Mothers family came from Limmerick long ago) these thigs are still part of our collective consiousness. Truth be told a few years ago Ben and Jerry’s icecream pretty much got busted the same thing. Which makes the Nike gaffe even harder to understand.

American Irish are one thing. Irish in Ireland are another. There are seriously intense “liberals” over there in Ireland– I mean the Communist type, who think the government should control everything.

Now, the matter of English brutality is pertinent. I mean no light dismissal of that whatsoever.

But to use it as an official protest seems moot to me. In any case, it is not the point of the article. I’m just funning with the Irish over the “blacks.”

Everyone can protest wrong done them from now till the end of the world. You just can’t expect it to be appreciated or valued by everyone else the same way you value it.

    Others ain’t you.

But you’re right. If the drink is what Nike was thinking, they did goof badly. On the other hand, why would they want to name sneakers after a historic drink anyway? That, I don’t understand at all.

Who are they targeting in the market with “Black&Tan sneakers?

  • 7 Gary DeLoriea // Mar 15, 2012 at 9:17 am

The point of the protest isn’t so much as to decry past atrocties but more as to address the lack of respect that was shown tho the community. Look, Nike wants to sell stuff. That’s fine that’s what merchants do. However, we will not be disrepected. It’s that simple. I don’t think anyone with an ounce of sense would accuse the Irish of being overly sensitive. The Irish-owned pub I hung out in back in Jersey sold Notre Dame gear. If we took offense so easily would that be the case? As far as the Irish communist. There probably are such people, there are in this country. However i find their influence is over-emphized by conservatives. They site the fact that the old Soviet air force had a base in Eire. However that was more of a case of economics than ideology. We weren’t going to set up any military bases there. (The Brits would have pitched a fit) So if superpower A won’t employ your people then you go to superpower B. Simple economics.

Actually, I understand Ireland even less than I understand Scotland. And I love them both! The Scottish Forum on the BadEagle.com forums was one of the first forums!

You’re right. It IS a matter of survival. I think, in Ireland’s case, the Catholic/Protestant conflict is extraordinary, and lies at the base of a lot of the problems. A vicious conflict, always.

  • 9 whitetrash // Mar 15, 2012 at 5:11 pm

The Catholic/Protestant conflict is not so hard to understand. The Protestant “Wealth Creators” showed up in Ireland with guns and King James Bibles. Sound familiar, Doc?

    Just sayin….

Years ago I remember seeing a black guy wearing a t-shirt advertising Bailey’s Irish Creme liquor. It said in bold, “I’ve Got Some Irish in Me.”

Being a good Irish Catholic from a notorious and warlike clan from County Mayo, I challenged his “Irishness.” Turns out he was just a brutha in a shirt from a thrift store. We got it worked out without coming to blows…but it was close. A genuine Mick cannot handle a darkie claiming to be Irish anymore than a Choctaw or Cherokee can tolerate the greedy, lying, and interloping Black Freemen who are attempting to get tribal rights and citizenship. By the way, the Freemen are typical of the dark and uncivilized thugs among us. Always looking for something for nothing. Always looking for Brobama to extend the government tit in their direction.

Being Irish is not about Irish citizenship. Irish people have a unique family relationship of ancient, interconnected and sometimes warring clans. Yes, anyone, including the dark race can become Irish by citizenship, but they are never Irish.

I agree Yeagley, the world has become one big Mulatto stew. Distinctives are frowned upon. Nationhood is frowned upon. It is sad.

The Irish Republican Army were considered terrorists because they operated an insurrection against invaders (the Brits). Yes, it was religiously divided and a lot of innocent people died. I do not defend that, but the ultimate problem was that they felt that their liberties were threatened by an overreaching British government. They stood up and fought.

I believe that the day is coming when we will see this sort of vigor against tyranny in the Unites States of Amerika that Brobama has created.

    Erin go Braugh!!!

Maharishi it is extremely common for Negroes to be mixed with Irish especially in Boston and the Americans South. There was is a group in South Carolina called the Brass Ankles that are generally considered to be Irish people with some Black ancestry. I’m not sure they exist anymore, I believe they assimilated into the Black and white group like most of the South’s little races did.
