Bill O’Reilly, Mrs. Santa Claus, & Ditsy Blondes

by David Yeagley · December 14, 2009 · 14 Comments ·

It happened one night last week. Bill O’Reilly showed the controversial animated advertisement from Boot Mobile. It’s about Mrs. Santa Claus committing adultery with a snow man, with a slippery segue into cell phone needs–based on the word “wrong.” O’Reilly was clearly and seriously miffed at the sacrilege of Christmas, but, kept a smile about it, because, as it happens, he had two of his ditsiest blondes there to comment. (These two, Gretchen Carlson and the other one’s name escapes me–an innocuous persona, are a cut under Megyn Kelly, who surely would never be asked to comment on a cartoon ad. Of course, it’s Ann Coulter, the razor-brained blonde, that Bill has such trouble relating to.) The whole ad segment apparently was edited out from all the O’Reilly archives available to the public–at least the non-paying public.

Why was it edited out from the archives? Wasn’t Bill appropriately offended by the ad? The two ditsy blondes thought the ad was hilarious. Bill said to one of them, “Do you think it’s gonna be funny in hell?”–which is how he really felt about the ad, but then, to assuage the shock to his offended little school girls, he quickly added with emphasis, “That’s a joke! That’s a joke!” But, it cleary wasn’t. He meant it. He was offended by the ad.

Yet, he didn’t want to seem prudish or juvenile by being so upset about a cartoon, blasphemous as it was. He didn’t wan’t to be laughed at for being offended when his childhood icon “Saint Nicholas” was denigrated in this way. The laughing girls made him shy away from his conviction. Laughing girls have a way of weakening the strongest convinctions. Giggling, naughty little girls can shame a mighty man.

Gretchen Carlson

Bill was right, but he gently, kindly cowered before the frivolity of his mindless, shallow guests. He should have been more serious. This ad makes adultery into a joke. That’s what’s offensive. Bill knew it. At the very time when an international sports icon has been found an absolute moral slob in the matter of adultery, a national TV ad comes out making Mrs. Santa Claus an adulteress. Bill brought this out clearly, but his naughty little girls were so hysterical about it, he didn’t want to seem self-righteous. He backed down. The silly women thought adultery was cute, and that the ad was fabulous. (They might have at least protested the fact that it was Mrs. Claus, and not Santa who was unfaithful. But, they weren’t feminists. They were “conservatives,” so, let the women have her fun. Yet, Mrs. Claus has her “needs” in the ad. She justifies herself, and rebukes the audience, anticipating our objection! So, is adultery a feminist thing? All about selfishness? This is funny?)

Bill O’Reilly

So, let Bill’s silly girls have their naughty way. Let’s all laugh together. Let’s lighten up, and not even take the Tiger Woods abomination for what it is. After all, his was a racial triumph. That really sanctifies it. He’s completely equal to any white man. A magnificent accomplishment.

Let’s laugh at adultery. Let’s make not make it such a big deal. After all, we don’t want to spoil Christmas.

I appreciate your concern about it, Bill. But, you did let us down. You let laughing girls, ditsy blondes, curb your righteous indignation.

Offended by adultery, yes; offended by Mrs Santa Claus committing adultery and feeling that she or Mr. Claus has much to do with the birth of Christ is stupid.

If someone truly has the spirit of Christmas in their heart, Santa has little to do with it.

I think Carlson was a former Miss America.

The other blond is Margaret Hoover. Who is famous because of her ancestor. Hint: they named hobo camps after him Hoovervilles. I agree, I think she is a light weight.

    President Herbert Hoover’s legacy.

Tens-of-thousands of Americans who found themselves homeless and began congregating in the numerous Hoovervilles (also known as shanty towns or tent cities) that had begun to appear across the country. The name ‘Hooverville’ was coined by their residents as a sign of their disappointment and frustration with the perceived lack of assistance from the federal government. In response, Hoover and the Congress approved the Federal Home Loan Bank Act, to spur new home construction, and reduce foreclosures. From link above just click on President Herbert Hoover inside the article.

There have been recent signs in Colorado Tent City’s Welcome to Obamaville. So maybe Margaret Hoover can bloviate on the similarities. Would Bill O’Reilly even bring it up?

You’re exactly right. Margaret Hoover was the second dits!

Just now coming up in the business. She has a nice site: MargaretHoover.com Interestingly, it is a WordPress blog, meaning, “free.” Her’s is a really professional-looking venue, however. Simple, sleek, quite impressive. Just doesn’t work too well, yet.

So, what is her relationship, if any, to former Pres. Hoover?

In any case, TV news is all about glamour these days. Ol’ White Trash is right. It’s entertainment. That’s why O’Reilly should have ignored the “Law & Order” dispute.” Dick Wolf is about entertainment. But, Bill, like most of the conservative hosts, really basks in any attention mainstream media gives him. It is self-congratulatory, even self-justifying. Sounds like a weakness to me. The sign of a competitor, not ‘establishment.’

I think that issue may have been on the same show. I don’t know.

I once admired Bill O’Reilly and never missed his show. In the past year or so, he doesn’t appeal to me all that much. In my opinion, he has become more interested in appeasing everyone(leaning heavily to the left) for ratings and being an equal opportunity degrader instead of presenting a clear position. Even as an Independent, he must have one.

The O’Reilly Factor has also suffered a dearth of informative issues in favor of busty blondes with some minimal talent or clips of subjects that, for some reason or another, are about scantily clad women or suggestive behavior. The “T&A” segments are almost a nightly thing now. I too was very dissapointed in his response to this matter. It isn’t the first time I have contacted his venue with my displeasure over such.

At an earlier time, I used his show to interest my grandson in world affairs and news. I no longer feel comfortable watching the show with him in the room. If I wanted such titillating content, I would go to a source that is known for such content.

I suppose that’s what the ratings game is all about. However, I believe The Factor will eventually suffer because of the bad choices of what O’Reilly and his staff consider newsworthy.

I am always amazed at how seriously Conservatives take entertainers.

Beck used to advertise his radio show as “the fusion of entertainment and enlightenment.” I don’t think they make any bones about that element.

However, they must be the best at it. Their ratings are in a different league altogether, compared to the barely registering mainstream lefties shows.

However, entertainment is only packaging. It doesn’t negate the truths these conservative hosts speak.

And I think the key word there White Trash is “seriously.” Conservatives are serious. I suppose that may be the reason for the contrast, humor, in their programs.

Olbermann is a would be comedian on the way left side. But, his ratings are dismal. Why is that? Why to the left shows (mainstream media) rate so terribly low?

“Olbermann is a would be comedian on the way left side. But, his ratings are dismal. Why is that? Why to the left shows (mainstream media) rate so terribly low?”

I imagine because Lefties can get validation of their beliefs through movies and television as opposed to radio or news programs. Why watch Olbermann when they have Clooney and the like?

When I think of serious men, serious ideas, and serious debate, I think of Goldwater, Kemp, or Reagan. Not a cartoon like Bill O’Reilly.

    But that’s just my .02

Wanda agrees with you . . . Get rid of those ditsy white women and make for a more diverse Fox. Perhaps Fox should diversify as much as BET and the Hispanic channel diversifies.

No! Better yet, use the Indians exemplary history of diversity with regards to the things they control. You know, like the ability of a white man to repossess a vehicle that an Indian has bought in the white man’s world, and then takes it to the reservation where he hides and does not make his payments.
