Sotomayor’s Strong Suit

by David Yeagley · June 9, 2009 · 4 Comments ·

At this point, Sonia Maria Sotomayor’s strongest plea at being “Latino” is the pronunciation of her last name. In America, the way it’s said is “SO-ta-my-er,” accent on the first syllable. Plain and simple. But she wants “so-to-my-OR,” accent on the last syllable. That makes her feel more “Latino.” That also makes the media feel more compassionate.

Sonia Maria Sotomayor, who has yet to speak
Spanish publicly for us, or to write Spanish, or
to travel to Puerto Rico, home of her parents.
And I’m more than willing to be corrected.

It is important that Sotomayor be Latino. She must be Puerto Rican. She must be a female person of color. That’s apparently the only way she can get on the Supreme Court. She has no other distinguishing qualifications. None. And according Ilana Mercer, Sotomayor’s financial records show her to be a “Not-So Wise Latina.” The career attorney woman is basically broke. Jeffery Folks’ article in the American Thinker, “Wise Latina Spender?” wonders if such a financial ghost would make Sotomayor “empathetic” to people who have actually lost their savings to the egotism of Barry Soetoro. I think it is a legitimate question. What has Sotomayor done with all the money she has earned? A SCOTUS nominee has voluntarily subjected herself to the all-inquisitive eyes of the public. After all, she aspires to judge us all. We need to know everything.

But, all we know is she wants to be called “so-to-may-OR.” Strange, really. Immigrants make no such demands on the American public. But, here, a woman born in the Bronx, is banking on the Spanish pronunciation of her name. All for racial attention. All for minority rights.

All for nonsense. American patriot Mark Krikorian, famed immigration critic, doesn’t want to say “so-to-may-OR.” He thinks American people should not be required to indulge foreigners (–and Sonia Sotomayor isn’t even a foreigner!). It is an offense to Americanism. He wants “assimilated pronunciation.” Of course, liberals demonize Krikorian for such neurotic intolerance. Their whole purpose, of course, is to erase anything essentially American–even the pronunciation of words.

But I agree even with the “gripers” who don’t feel a cosmic need to distinguish between “Latino” (masculine) and “Latina.” This is not a concern of English speaking people. There are no such ‘gender adjectives.’ This issue is rather the zenith of self-righteous liberalism. Given their way, they would make it a hate crime, hate speech, to fail to make this gender distinction, as well as Spanish pronunciation of Spanish names. They’re all about control over others–in the name of “compassion.” What lying deceivers they truly are.

But we have to understand, in the world of political images and fabricated fantasies, these linguistic details are the sole foundation! The liberals must have control. Power begins with words. This is how the lying, treasonous, alien black African Communist Muslim Barry Soetoro became the first “African-American” president. It’s all in the image.

And the primary image is victimhood. Poverty. Struggle. But, it is a deceitful manner in which liberals go about creating that image. They are willing to praise someone for rising from poverty, yet they ignore the “affirmative action” mechanics which enable this to happen–as they have designed, and at the same time, inevitably, want the public to appreciate these rising stars for their individual “hard work”–the pith of conservatism! In other words, everything liberals do or think is right. Everything conservatives do or think is wrong. This is the political conversational dynamic established by the liberals. As yet, conservatives have not broken out of the slave-driving language dictates of the liberals.

I think Sonia Maria Sotomayor has a lot weighing on the pronunciation of her name–the Spanish pronunciation. Too much, in fact. If Spanish people want their names pronounced in the Spanish way, they are free to reside in Spanish speaking countries. It is uncouth, Third World ignorance and arrogance to come to a foreign country and expect everyone to pronounce things your way. But, as we said, Sonia was born in the Bronx. She has no nationality but American. This makes the name pronunciation thing completely farcical.

If she is voted in, (and with not a single Republican worthy of the name in Congress, it is probable), it will be on the issue of her name. That’s what it’s come to in liberal America. A Supreme Court Justice–because of a foreign name. So, the answer to sickeningly liberal anti-American Hindu DEEPTI HAJELA’s AP article, “What’s in a name?” is simple: the highest authority in America.

Hindu Deepti Hajela, devoted to the dissolution of American culture, married to Negro Brian Martin. This is her America.

I hasten to add, I’m not the only person wondering about the nature of Sotomayor’s authenticity.

    Sotomayor: I struggled with English

A Politico response to the question. The fact is, many Puerto Ricans, like Mexicans, neither write nor speak well in English or in Spanish. Sotomayor was apparently one of these, growing up. But, being a Supreme Court Justice will make all that right…

Then there are the discussion boards:

Does Sonia Sotomayor speak Hebrew, too?

    Does Sotomayor speak English?

Now it is said she “struggled” with English, lol. Well so did George Bush. Sounds like we are being set up to have compassion for the poor lady. They already have an out for her not too bright comments. And woe unto you who point them out. You, you racist!

Yes. Sotomayor is a victim. That’s the gig. That’s the sell. Pulling at heart strings, in a completely deceptive manner–that’s liberal talk.

Good point about GWB English “struggles.”

Always remember, Liberals can, Conservatives can’t. It’s that simple. Whatever liberals do or think is right; whatever conservatives do or think is wrong. This is the liberal game.
